Biography
Dr. Shelitha R. Campbell, DNP, MSN, BSN, APRN, FNP-BC, PHN, HMCT For over 28 years, Dr. Shelitha Campbell has been a dedicated advocate and innovator in nursing, fostering excellence through personal growth and community upliftment. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of San Francisco, a Master’s in Nursing with Family Nurse Practitioner certification from San Francisco State University, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice with an emphasis in Executive Leadership from Loyola University, New Orleans. Dr. Campbell serves as an Associate Professor at Samuel Merritt University and as a family nurse practitioner at Roots Community Health, while championing health equity, social justice, and systemic change. Proudly proclaiming herself as “a JEDI” – a Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion advocate – Dr. Campbell exemplifies leadership in action. Dr. Campbell is an executive leader of many organizations. Most recently, she is the Co-Founder and President of a newly established nonprofit organization, Residue and the Co-Founder and CEO of A Sista’s Touch, a nonprofit organization; both organizations are dedicated to cultivating and celebrating the Oakland and Bay Area communities with distinct missions to elevate the Black family and Women and Girls. Dr. Campbell also established and curates the C.A.R.E. Symposium, LLC, a transformative educational initiative designed to advance health equity and combat systemic disparities through fostering a Capacity, Allyship, Resilience, and Equity (C.A.R.E.) mentality. Her leadership extends to numerous organizations, including serving as a board member for Friends of MISSSEY, and as Treasurer for the Bay Area Black Nurses Association. Dr. Campbell participates on various committees in other local and national professional organizations. Dr. Campbell’s exceptional contributions to health equity and human trafficking advocacy have earned her recognition, including the 2025 Mc-Camey-De-Witty Lifetime Achievement Award from DNPs of Color, 2024 Flo Stroud Award from the Bay Area Black Nurses Association and acknowledgment from Alameda County Supervisor Lena Tam’s office as an Outstanding Black Achiever for District 3. Her commitment to service is also evident in her affiliations. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., faculty advisor for the Lambda Chi Chi Beta chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., a member of the Berkeley School of Theology Trauma Town Hall Series Committee, and Co-Chair of the 5th & 6th Annual DNPs of Color Conference. Dr. Campbell’s deepest aspiration is to build a lasting legacy of impact, service, and excellence that her husband, children, and mother can celebrate with pride.
