Biography
I’m Dominique Gillis, a licensed psychotherapist in Los Angeles. I work with my clients as they move toward wellness and away from the things that stand in the way of living the lives they want. As a Black woman, I recognize that there are spaces where people of color don’t see themselves reflected back at them. Therapy, historically, is one of those spaces. If you’re a person of color or a person who values diverse perspectives in your life, Counseling in Color LA will be a space where you feel safe, seen and heard. I’m here to support your mental health journey. I also offer on-set therapy, consent education, and intimacy coordination for members of the TV and film industry.
Experience
I have worked for over 10 years in community mental health settings and with young adults in college counseling centers. I specialize in helping individuals and couples recover from issues related to relationships, self-esteem, career and life transitions, depression, and anxiety. As a wife and mother of two, I am especially passionate about providing postpartum therapy to parents or caretakers. In addition to my role as a therapist, I have been a consent educator for 8 years. I develop curricula and programming to teach others how to create a culture of consent.
